Trying Disc Throwing

One of the things that I really like about Finland is the outdoor activities available. It is everywhere! Even during this time, you can go out and have fun out in the forest. I just love that. Also it is a good way to exercise and get some fresh air without any contact with people.
So, my Finnish family invited me to play some disc with them. First of all, I have never done such a thing. I mean, the last time was probably when I was 10. I was not good at it at all. What I thought was that, it would be like a Frisbee game. I was so wrong. So wrong. All I was told to do was, wear shoes suitable for the forest. I didn’t know what was coming up.

We arrived and when we opened the trunk, they had a lot of colorful discs. That’s when I knew, this was serious. Different colors meant different speeds and techniques. I chose the orange color, the most basic one. I didn’t know if I could even throw properly. After a bit of training and looking at the map, we decided to dive right into it.

There were many people playing, they had bags full of discs. It was very interesting to see. Everyone was very serious, there were very good players too. They would throw it and it would go so fast and straight. Mine, well I thought I was better but obviously they weren’t going at full speed. So we spent a lot of time walking, picking them back up and throwing again and again. I only knew that this was the start. We had 19 tracks ahead.

Those tracks are not easy. You need to be ready when you go there to play and have some water. Water keeps you going. The thing with this is, you jump, you climb rocks, you go down some rocks, and you get in the mud or water and walk a lot. I mean like, a lot! And combine all of these with throwing discs around. You get tired. After 10 tracks, I was already dead but, there is no way out! You need to finish all of them to get out of the forest and run for your life.

Overall, it was an amazing and fun experience, we had a lot of fun and well, the children of my family were basically better than me. I think I did nail it. It was also nice to watch people play, and funny for them to watch me struggle. But it was a very interesting a fun experience!
