English in Finland

One of the awesome things I ever noticed about Finland was the fact of everyone speaking English! I have never come across anyone that does not understand! I believe that for sure there might be people who do not know but, the majority knows it too well! I was so surprised and relieved.

I loved the fact that everyone knew English otherwise, it would definitely be a great trouble for us to communicate. I find that Finnish is a very complex language and I really appreciate it. It has so many words and letters, even when we had our class, it was so difficult for us. We had learnt some stuff to help us around town but we didn’t really need them that much. Everyone magically knows English. It’s like magic. I also find it very good for the Finnish people since English is such a worldwide known language, it is very easy to communicate wherever they go.

That being said, I really like that.

Along with this, when I joined for the English classes at the primary school, I could see how the teachers really worked hard to get the children to use English. They were trying all types of methods. That was interesting to see. When I was there, spending time with all the children from different grades, I saw how they were very shy but also interested when we tried to communicate with them. They were keen on talking and trying to speak English.

I really could see the teacher working very hard with them.So we tried many different methods with the children. I believe that in Finland, they have a very good education base and especially in English. That is why you might not come across anyone that much that doesn’t know English. Which I find to be extremely cool!
