Radio Show Project: Around the Globe

When we first came here, I had been doing this radio show back at my home university which they didn’t really believe was a good idea. I always thought that it was a great idea so I decided to carry it on here in Finland. Of course, I had also found the perfect partner that I had met here who also was into this idea. We started off, I was a bit scared I must admit when we went to the meeting and presented our show. I didn’t know how they would react, I believed that it was a very different idea. It also made sense here more since we had the format of travelling around the globe and meeting new people. So, as exchange students this would also be perfect for us to meet new exchange students, learn about their countries and tell it to people who were interested to listen. They liked the idea but since it would be more of a pretend show, weren’t so sure if we could do it every week. We were glad and so we started to work on it. I remember how nervous we were when we had first started it. We were unsure and well we were excited and we really didn’t know how it would go. I was so excited when the first episode was up along with us being on Spotify. I loved that. We also even had a photoshoot for our photos to be put up there. It was totally amazing, I felt like a professional. It was being shared everywhere from Facebook to Instagram. We had also created our own Instagram account where we would share photos and do promotions. We were even promoted with our video on the TV screens at school. It was very cool. Nobody had ever cared about this idea of mine before that much so it felt very important. With this, I loved to do the show every week and I really enjoyed it. Within a couple of weeks, we had started to get guests on the show where they would come in and talk too. It was so much fun. That’s why I loved education in Finland. They had encouraged us so much, we were doing great in the show while enjoying and we had managed to do it every week. It was hard, all the research and finding people and songs but it was worth it. I was spending a lot of time on social media to promote along with Photoshop to keep out Instagram account live.
Unfortunately, we had to take a break from the show during this situation to figure out what to do since the radio station closed. With a couple of meetings, we decided to get people to send in voice messages and with that, it would mean that we could still continue. We had also changed the format, doing it more like a talk show rather than a radio theatre. We also decided that one show in a week was not enough so decided to do two shows in a week! Can you believe that! We were unsure in the beginning if we could do the show every week and now we were doing it twice! Well we still are but I guess we can definitely see how we grew up doing the show. You can really see in the first episode of how unsure and sort of low we are and as the show continues, you can see how we are just joking around and keeping it going in a very cool and chill way. We have definitely become better and I and my partner clicked like a puzzle. Well, I must say that we still have a lot of work to do since it is still continuing! If you would like to listen, check out Radio Tutka or named Tutcast on Spotify! We are there!
